We're aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a significant subset of users. The affected users are unable to access Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, Chat and various other services.
Users are getting 404s when signing-in

And then at 5:30am this morning...

Status: Service disruption Gmail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users within the next 1 hours. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change. The affected users are unable to access Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Classroom, Slides, Chat and various other services.
